1949: Shop class

When our shop class began there were eighteen members. They were: Eugene Phillips, Emory Camp, Mathew Boyd, Wallace Bourgeau, Delbert Duffner, Charles Clark, Merle Hamilton, Elva Jean White, Frances Lesater, Patricia DeSmeth, Eva Jane DeSmeth, Carol Durham, James Phillips and Henry Judd. Later on Stanley Baulne, Louis Boyd, Donna Wilson, George Butler, David Stensgar, Doris Rima, Corbett Swan, and Francis White joined the class.

In the middle of the first semester, Donna Wilson and Henry Judd dropped out. The second semester Leo Baulne and Sidney Hamilton entered the class. Doris Rima, Eva Jane DeSmeth and Patricia DeSmeth dropped out to take up other subjects.

Mr. Durham, our teacher, was very patient with us. Our equipment consists of a bandsaw, joined, planer, large power saw grinder, rasps, gauges, electric drills and sanders, and many other tools to help us with our work.

Some of our projects were as follows: end tables, book cases, desks, plant stands, clock shelves, cedar chests, gun cabinet, utility shelves, match box holders, jewel boxes, billfolds, and sets to hold cards.
