Feb. 28, 1965: Hornets scare Reardan

Reardan stayed in the race for the State B High School Basketball Tournament Friday night.

Inchelium's hustling Hornets injected a bit of excitement into Friday's action by reeling off 10 straight points late in the fourth quarter to frighten Reardan. But Reardan held them off with free throws – the Indians' best weapon – in the last minute and a half.

The Indians won 52-42 at Eastern Washington State fieldhouse.

Inchelium will outhustle almost anyone but the Hornets' desire often means lots of fouls.Inchelium was whistled for 27 personals and Reardan made 30 of 40 free throws. And when the Hornets had an opportunity at the line, they were quite unsuccessful, hitting just six of 19.

Steve Simpson again sparked the young Reardan team with 21 points.

Charles Peone scored 14, Junior George had 10 and Clarence Holford scored 8 to lead Inchelium.
