July 27, 1918: Colville wins 8-3 in Sunday's game

Colville defeated Inchelium at Colville Sunday by a score of 8 to 3. The game was exciting from the beginning when Inchelium started by scoring three runs in the first inning on a base on balls and two hits, one over the right field fence for a home run. This ended the scoring for the visitors, but they were dangerous in the fifth inning with the bases full and one out. Shaw was caught off 3d by the "hidden ball" trick and the next batter struck out. Colville scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third, four in the sixth and one in the eighth. Each team made nine hits.

A regretted accident occurred when Lawson of Inchelium suffered a broken leg in a collision with Snoddy at first base.

The gate receipts were divided 60% to winner and 40% to loser, after deducting war tax. Colville's share was $51. This was very gratifying, considering the water was fine at the lakes.

Batteries, Setzer and Young for Inchelium; Sillivan and Graham for Colville. Umpire, Mike Wright. Inchelium played Shaw, Hefor, Skeels, Phillips, McKern, Kesler and Lawson.
