The rival towns of Meteor and Inchelium located on the South Half of the Colville Indian Reservation and only six miles distant from each other are now holding their annual Fourth of July celebrations. Meteor arranged for a six day celebration and raised a cash fund of $600 for this purpose. The Inchelium people went Meteor one better by raising $60 for a 10-day celebration. The principle features of these festivities are cayuse races, a daily Indian parade in blankets and feathers, with various other Indian sports and games. These are given liberal cash prizes and purses given for all kinds of athletic sports and games which are free for all.
