Dec. 14, 1980: Hornets fall to Creston in basketball

The Creston Comets radically altered their fortunes against the Inchelium Hornets by beating them 56-45 Saturday night — just four days after losing to them by 45 points.

Key in the reversal for Creston was Steve Rosman, who hooped 21 points and commandeered 22 rebounds. Teamate Leonard Gibboney canned 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Bi-County league team, which now is 3-2 this season.

Inchelium, a Panorama league squad, slipped to 1-3 with the loss.

Lady Hornets fall to Hunters

Lorretta Sampson and Kim Smith combined for 36 points and 25 points Saturday night as Hunters raced past Inchelium 50-14 in a prep girls' basketball mismatch.

The Lions, 3-1 on the year, used 21 points from Sampson, 15 from Smith and a stubborn zone defense to control the entire game. Jolene Signor paced Inchelium's scoring with 6 points.
