June 12, 1915: Monster Indian celebration coming to Inchelium

A monster Indian celebration and Fourth of July observance will be held at Inchelium July 3-7. The five days are well occupied with Indian races, stick games, war dances, and many athletic contests free for all. Dancing in the big pavilion every night. Harry C. Cranke is to be race starter, and a number of people from Stevens county are scheduled to attend. Inchelium has had many celebrations in the past, all successful, but this one bids fair to excell all others. The committee in charge is composed of R.R. Coleman, J.W. Bartlett and Chas W. Lawson of Inchelium, and F.H. Stewart of Gifford, who will be pleased to furnish any information. More than $1,000 in cash prizes is offered in the different events. Big two-color posters are out announcing the event, and program bills will be issued later.
