From June 30 to July 5 the Inland Empire is invited to the Victory Celebration at Inchelium. The annual celebration of the Fourth of July at Inchelium with its picturesque Indian sports and festivities, horse races, bucking contests, baseball and other attractions, is becoming an event which draws large crowds each year. This year Nespelem joins with Inchelium in celebrating the Fourth of July week.
CW Lawson, Indian farmer, will be grand marshal of the entire celebration and William Buckley of Colville will have charge of the racing program. The first three days are to be devoted largely to Indian sports and the program will be composed of horse races, foot races, bucking contests, Indian stick games, Indian war dances, etc. July 3, 4 and 5, there will be other contests and a series of baseball games in which teams from Republic, Colville, Chewelah, Hunters, Nespelem, Spokane Indian Reservation and Inchelium are expected to play.
The new Inchelium flour mills will begin to make flour on the Fourth of July, an event in which the whole neighboring territory is interested. The Hon. W.E. Humphries will make a patriotic address July 4.
The committee in charge of the entertainment includes C.W. Lawson, H.G. Parmeter, Chas. P Bennett, R.R. Coleman, chairman.
