SPOKANE — A Spokane woman has filed a $7 million damage suit in United States District Court for violations of her civil rights by the Inchelium School District.
The suit was filed by a former teacher, Laura D. Cooper, against the district; Supt. Edward Dodson, the high school principal, Michael Anderson, and members of the School Board.
The plaintiff asserts she experienced disciplinary problems with students during the 1978-98 school year, but that school officials did nothing to help her.
Court documents say when Ms. Cooper had a problem with Dodson's daughter during a test, the teacher refused to accept the test. Ms. Cooper asserts school officials told her she had to apologize to the girl in front of the class, but she refused.
She also asserts school officials had the students evaluate her on her teaching methods, but failed to offer her an opportunity to challenge the students' statements.
