June 13, 1928: Stray Dog Mine strikes good ore

INCHELIIUM - The vein has been struck in the Stray Dog, seven miles west of Inchelium, and it contains good ore so rich that miners are confident that it will become a producing mine, justifying the faith of Harvey Ferris of Spokane, who owns it. The ore is silver-lead between good walls.

A tunnel was driven into the mountain, the work starting two years ago. This did not hit the vein as expected and about a month ago a cross-cut was started and in this the ore has been encountered. The tunnel is in between 500 and 600 feet.

Four men with a compressor are at work on the property. It is in Ferry County.
