June 18, 1919: Land office to sell lots


-Parcels are those unsold in Indian Reservation townsites

The land office has received notice from the Department of the Interior that the unsold lots in the townsites of Omak, Nespelem, Astor and Inchelium, within the former Colville Indian Reservation, and the townsite of Klaxta, in the former Spokane Indian Reservation, are to be offered for sale under the supervision of John McPhaul, superintendent of the opening and sale of Indian lands, at not less than their appraised value, as follows.

The sales will take place at Omak July 5, at Nespelem July 10, Astor July 14, Inchelium and Klaxta at Spokane on July 17.

The sales will commence on the dates mentioned and continue from day to day, Sundays and holidays excepted, as long as may be necessary. Bids may me made in person or by agent, but not by mail nor at any time or place other than the time or place that the lots are offered for sale. Any person may purchase any number of lots and tracts for which he is the highest bidder.

No lot or tract will be sold for less than $10 and any lot or tract sold for $10 must be paid on the date sold. 

At least 25 percent of the bid price for each lot or tract sold for more than $10 must be paid on the date of the sale, and the remainder, if the amount be less than $50, within one year from the date of sale; if price is over $50 and less than $100, the remainder may be divided into two equal payments one and two years from the date of sale; if the amount is over $100 the balance may be divided into three equal payments.
