March 19, 1918: Indian soldier in France

INCHELIUM — An auxiliary to Inchelium branch of the Red Cross has been formed at Covada, six miles beyond Inchelium, known as the Covada Indian Government School auxiliary. Inchelium and Covada have a membership of 66, of whom the greater share are Indians.

Besides supporting Red Cross work, the Colville Indians have given a number of their young men to the army. One of these is James Perkins, a cousin of Mrs. Mary Lloyd, the Indian Red Cross Organizer. He is in France.
