May 26, 1928: Indian Congress dates are fixed


-Northwest Tribes gather at Inchelium in June for Celebration

Indian tribes from all parts of the northwest will be presented at a six-day Indian congress and powwow to be held June 10 to 16, inclusive, at Inchelium in the Colville Reservation, according to notices received today by Indians here.

The meeting and celebration will be held under the direction of the Association for the Protection of the Vanishing Americans.

A full program of Indian sports and games will be staged and a full line of concessions will be in place for the occasion. Peter Noyes is in charge.

Business and pleasure will be combined at the gathering and conferences will be held to determine steps advisable for improving the condition of the red man.
