Feb. 25, 1966: Reardan, Inchelium earn State 'B' Tourney Births

Hornets get first trip with win over Odessa

CHENEY, Wash. - Reardan and Inchelium won their ways to the State "B" Basketball tournament with victories Thursday night in the semifinals of the Northeast District at Eastern Washington State College.

For Inchelium, it is the Hornets first trip ever to the state tournament and came as a surprise, as the Colville Indian Reservation team defeated a Bi-County team for the second straight night, this time Odessa 58-40.

Reeardan reached Saturday's championship game against Inchelium with a 68-30 win over Freeman.

Hunters eliminated Harrington 54-41 and Davenport knocked out Curley 72-52 in afternoon games.

BREAKS STREAK

Bill Crawford (Mollenberg) scored 24 points to lead Inchelium to its victory. The win breaks a consecutive losing streak of at least six years for the Panorama teams in a quest for the state finals.

Crawford gave Inchelium a 17-15 lead with 3:03 to play in the second quarter and the Hornets never again were behind.

Terry Finley had 14 points for Inchelium and Eric Ellsworth added 12. Jon Heimbigner, the only player in double figures, had 15 for Odessa.
