May 4, 1950: Colville Indian Vote Ticket Set


NESPELEM - C.L. Graves, superintendent of the Colville Indian agency, today announced that the following candidates had been certified by the tribe's general election board for the annual general election to be held May 20.

Inchelium district, Alex Covington, Louie Camille, and Helen Toulou

Keller District, Henry Covington, Barney Rickard and Peter J. Gunn

Nespelem District, Harry Owhi, Albert Orr, Marcel Arcasa and Richard Armstrong

Omak District, John B. Cleveland, Edward Gorr, Josephine Marchand and Louis N. Orr

The polls will open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. May 20 Ballot boxes, ballots and election officials will be located at the following stations

Inchelium district - Inchelium subagency, Kewa community hall and Boyds

 Omak district - Omak subagency, Disautel schoolhouse and Monse schoolhouse

Keller District - Keller council hall and Curlew

Nespelem district votes will cast their ballot at the agency council hall

Two concilmen will be elected in each district with the exception of the Keller district, where only one councilman will be named

Absentee ballots will be furnished to those members who request a ballot from the agency in writing.
