Around this time, the team adopted the name "Hornets" after the popular radio series, "The Green Hornet." Many of these guys went off to fight in World War II, as well, with McClung being featured in the 2001 HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers," created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
Great pic. I have never seen this one. Nor heard the Green hornet story. My dad said he was one who helped decide the name as I remember
