June 16, 1931: Gave customers free auto ride

Roy Seyler's customers got their money's worth.

Seyler, an Indian, gave every customer a free automobile ride with every pint of liquor purchased according to a story by federal agents, who have Seyler in custody.

Seyler, officers said, would pick up his customer in an old Ford, take him for a ride and then deliver the liquor, avoiding possibility of being caught.

Indian Agent Dupuis at Inchelium, it is said, proved himself a better detective than Seyler had given him credit for being. He arrested the Indian.

Seyler was bound over to the federal grand jury under bond of $500 and is held in jail at Colville.

The car was not worth bringing into Spokane to sell.
