Trustees at Washington Community College District 17 agreed yesterday to pursue a request for state funds for construction of portable buildings for Indian education at Wellpinit, Usk and Inchelium.
The district has had programs in those communities the last two years, said Lloyd E. Stannard, coordinator of extension services, but the classes offered have been limited to facilities available there.
Stannard said 131 members of the Kalispel Indian Reservation enrolled in programs at Usk, 74 of the Spokane Tribe at Wellpinit and 121 of the Colville Tribe at Inchelium.
