Violet Toulou, pretty Indian maid, will rule over Ceeah Spatakum, in the picturesque village of Inchelium, September 2, 3 and 4. The two Indian words used for this annual fall festival are significant, ceeah meaning large group and spatakum meaning potatoes or exhibits. The Ceeah Spatakum Fair association was organized four years ago. Ed LaFleur, an Indian, served as president of the fair association each year. He has gained the full cooperation of the Indians and the white farmers of his region. The three-day program includes contests for teepees, war dances, Indian stick games, and pre-school health clinic.
