NESPELEM -- The Colville Confederated Tribes which have three districts recently had an official tribal business council election. The council includes seven members with five incumbents returning.
Of the Omak district Mel Tonasket (incumbent) received a total of 251 and Norris Palmanteer (new member) received 264. Others in the district were Samuel Sampson, 246; Mary A. Marchand, 179; Raymond Quintasket, 84; Lionel J. Orr, 62; Ambrose Adolph, 51; Caroline Sellars, 41; Hank George, 32; and Robert Clark, 14.
In the Nespelem district Andrew C. Joseph (incumbent) received 184 and Frank LaFountaine (new member) received 224. Others in the district received: Lucy F. Covington, 177; Clarence Whalawitsa, 134; Eldon L. Wilson, 80, Gerry M. Boyd, 83; Charles Gua, Sr., 78; Harvey Moses, Sr., 75; William Dick, 62; Frank B. Andrews, 50; Peter B. George, 36; and Jesse Madera, Sr., 32.
For the Inchelium district both Dave F. Stensgar, 217, and Jude C. Stensgar, 253, were incumbents in the race winning in the district polls. Others received Terrence Finley, 188; Jac Charbonneau, 128; Julia Woodward, 106; Thomas L. Watt, 52; and Patrick Hoffman, 13.
In the Keller district Al Aubertin (incumbent) had the total of 127. There were no runners in the Keller district.
The returning incumbents include 'Mel Tonasket, Dave F. Stensgar, Jude C. Stensgar, Al Augertin, and Andrew C. Joseph. New members are Frank LaFountaine and Norris Palmanteer.
