A Ferry County woman was injured fatally early yesterday when struck by a car after she had been thrown from a motorcycle 5 miles south of Springdale, State Patrol reported.
Laurie A. Seymour, 19, of Inchelium, died shortly after the 12:05 a.m. accident. She was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Kurt Brigman, 21, Ford.
Troopers said Brigman lost control of the cycle when he tried to pass a southbound car. Ms. Seymour was thrown to the highway as the motorcycle went into a ditch.
The occupants of the car stopped and moved Ms. Seymour off the highway then went over to Brigman's aid. While they were helping Brigman, Ms. Seymour got up and tried to cross the highway and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Jeanette Cress, 39, of Valley. Brigman suffered only minor injuries.
