-Washington Congressmen are fighting sells plan for reserves
Members of the Washington delegation in congress are strenuously opposed to the plan of Commissioner Cato Sells to set aside some 200,000 acres of land on the Colville Reservation prior to the opening of the south half to settlement.
Under his proposed legislation so-called grazing reservations will be created around Inchelium, Meteor, Nespelem and north of Omak Lake, with another along the Columbia River near Seaton and Plum. He also insists that the secretary of interior shall have the right to hold all timber lands in reserve.
At a conference with the delegation at Washington yesterday, Commissioner Sells agreed to the opening of the Colville Reservation as soon as possible after closing of allotments.
