CHATTAROY - Inchelium and Almira, with mild upsets over intraleague rivals, won Northeast District berths in the State B Girls' High School Basketball Tournament Thursday night.
Inchelium, on a parade of fourth-quarter free throws, held off Panorama Champion Wellpinit (31-24) and Almira followed with a 55-50 win over Bi-County rival Wilbur as Liz Caple and Nancy Tate scored 21 apiece. Inchelium took 37 free throws against Wellpinit, making 15, while the losers were only 0-for-4.
Tonight, Inchelium and Almira play for state seeding and Reardan plays Ritzville for No. 1 and 2 from the Northeast.
Julie Michel led Inchelium with 8 points, followed by Sandy Seymour (7), Donna Boyd (6), Deanna Camp (6) and Chris Shaffer (4).
