April 18, 1937: Indian in vile case not from Inchelium

Merle Hagmann, farm agent of the department of Indian Affairs at Inchelium writes the Spokesman-Review as follows:

"We have noticed in the Spokesman-Review of April 14 in the news item concerning the rape case, which is considered the most atrocious case of its kind in the history of the federal court, that you have stated that the Indian involved, Albert Sorimpt, is from the vicinity of Inchelium. We wish to have you correct this information or item of news as soon as possible to the effect that he is from the Nespelem district of the Colville Indian Reservation and is from Keller, Wash.

"The murder case, which was just completed April 13 at the federal court, we're sorry to say, was committed near Inchelium, but we do not care to be given any further disgrace by lawlessness committed in other sections."
