Regarding "Mother or murderer?" (The Times, May 8)
The story is a good one. I would just like to clarify that it was my sister and her husband and children who were in the Hooper home at the time the story took place. (I am hoping readers do not think it to be Shirley Hooper's family, other than her three girls.).
...Through your article many people were made aware of the Mothers Day picnic at Woodland Park. There were approximately 150 in attendance. It was a beautiful, sunshiny day, just right...
My baby girl, Chante' Waste' (pronounced Chontay-woshtay), didn't have such a lucky day, however. She fell as she was climbing onto one of the bleachers and fractured her left ankle. Despite this problem, with the cast on her leg she gets around well.
My day didn't end so well, either. I was anxious to get to my sister's, and I got pulled over by police. The state trooper gave me a speeding ticket, a Mother's Day gift from the state. (I didn't think our old car could go as fast as he said it was ... 65).
