Jan. 20, 1917: Will hear Indian claims — session at Inchelium Monday regarding allotments


Federal officers and attorneys will go to Inchelium, on the Colville Reservation, Sunday, where hearings will be held Monday on the claims of 18 persons of Indian descent, who have been denied allotments by the secretary of the interior. The hearings will be conducted by Sydney A. Scott, appointed special examiner by Judge Rudkin, and the testimony will be taken down in shorthand, transcribed and presented to the court for judgment. 

Besides Examiner Scott those who will make the trip are Deputy United States Attorney Thomas A. Scott, who will represent the government; Attorney Oscar Cain, who represents 15 of the claimants; and Attorneys W. Lon Johnson and L.C. Joseph of Colville, who represent the remaining claimants.
