July 11, 1927: City booze case starts in court


Ten federal court jurors had been passed for cause to serve in the conspiracy trial against Charles W. Hedger, Detectives Leroy Self, W.J. Hudson and others at 3:45 o'clock this afternoon.

After two more jurors are passed for cause the defense and government will begin the exercise of peremptory challenges.

Those seated at 2 p.m. are F.E. Pease, Usk farmer; A.E. Lunden, Ione merchant; R.V. Wallace, Cheney farmer; J.F. Majors, retired farmer of Deep Creek; Clarence Watt, Inchelium merchant; B.J. Ziegler, Usk farmer; James Sparling, Inchelium merchant; Alexx McKay, Republic mine man; F.S. Barrett, Spokane realty dealer; and C.L. Baker, Colville banker.

The questioners were interrogating Benton Bang of Wenatchee, at 3:40 p.m. P.Q. Forsythe was the other juror seated.
