Oct. 28, 1927: Sites selected to make surveys

-Ten quadrangles named by committee of associated engineers

Ten quadrangles in eastern Washington were selected by the executive committee of the Associated Engineers of Spokane today to be recommended by Dr. H.C. Culver, state geologist, for topographical surveys. Dr. Culver asked suggestions and will request the next legislature for funds with which these surveys can be made as rapidly as possible. It was recommended that the quadrangles be surveyed in the order in which they are named. They are: Chewelah, Colville, Metaline, Marcus. San Poil, Newport, Inchelium, Nespelem, Mazama, and Ruby Creek. The first two are partly surveyed and require only a small amount of work to complete and these two with Metaline are where there is unusual mining activity. The last two, Mazama and Ruby Creek are in Okanogan County.
