Sept. 25, 1915: Widow of Chief Barnaby marries Paul

Mrs. Agatha Barnaby, aged 50, and Paul (Hel-ix-qual-kin), aged 70, native Colville Indians, were married Monday at the Mission. The bride was the widow of Chief Barnaby of the Colville Tribes, who died about four years ago.

Paul is a substantial farmer at Inchelium and has acquired fame as possesor of some of the fastest race horses in the Inland Empire.

Clair Hunt, formerly allotting agent for the Colville Reservation, and Sig Dilsheimer and Joseph W. Reynolds, old time acquaintances of the couple, stood sponsors for their good intentions. Both the contracting parties are wealthy in their own right in land and livestock, and it is said the union established the richest Indian estate on the reservation.
